Gardeners in the Applewood Acres and Orchard Heights areas opened their beautiful spring gardens to ticket-holders for viewing on Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in support of the fight against cancer.
Included on this year’s tour were the gardens of Liz Primeau, author of Front Yard Gardens: Growing More Than Grass and In Pursuit of Garlic: An Intimate Look at the Divinely Odorous Bulb, and Douglas Markoff, Executive Director of the Riverwood Conservancy, the 60-hectare nature preserve and public gardens on the East Bank of the Credit River.
This year’s Tour also included a plant sale with proceeds donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.
To further enhance visitors’ experience, music students from Mentor College performed in selected gardens throughout the day and a Master Gardener was on hand to answer gardening questions.
Last year’s Tour raised over $8 thousand and we’re hoping to beat that amount for this year.
